I bet you've sat in a drive-thru waiting for a coffee that you're excited to drink while parked on the side of the road somwhere cause you. are. not. about. to. wake. up. that. sleeping. baby.
Me too. I totally get it.
I'm a middle school teacher, karaoke superstar, australian shepherd mom, and chemex coffee drinker. I can also binge watch Gilmore Girls, Brooklyn 99, and I can quote a good amount of scenes from She's the Man.
I also happen to be a photographer.
My project was called pin-hole photography. Can you believe my parents chaged the bulbs in our bathroom to red lights, I developed my own pictures that I took of my classmate with pinhole cameras that we made out of boxes and tin foil. I can't take call the credit though, my partner and I did all the work together. If you're out there Jessica Mullen-- I did it, I actually became a photographer. I remember saying " Im going to be a photographer!" I was very sure of myself in grade four.
Fast forward to grade 8, I took a class all about composition. I went home with a "best photo" award for a landscape photo that I took while on a trip to Alberta. (Yikes, I dont know how I'm actually sharing this photo.)
I went on to go to the Academy of Broadcasting where I learned even more about cameras and editing. Then I somehow ended up at the University of Winnipeg getting a bachelor of arts and education.
Thank God, because I learned that I love to teach. I know that everything that I have encountered professionally has been preparing me for what is in store next, and boy am I excited.
I had an amazing mentor who says photography is legacy work, and I agree 100%
We blink and our kids need us less and less. Lets stop time for a bit and document some special moments
Whether your body is creating life. Or you are spending your days with your little. It is worth documenting.

Jules knew how nervous I was to be in front of the camera and she made the whole shoot very casual and relaxing.
